Locksmith Service - Re-Keying and Master Keys
Rekeying is the process of changing a lock's tumblers to work on a different key than the current one. Though often referred to as 'changing a lock', rekeying does not require replacement of the lock itself, but resetting the tumbler combination to fit a different key.
Did you just move in to a new house? Bought a new business? Do you know who has keys to your locks? Well, if you donít, rekeying is something you may want to consider. Once you have an A & A locksmith rekey your locks you can rest assure that no one but you has the keys to your house or business. You may also want to consider rekeying if you would like to have one key open all your locks. This is a great thing to have if you have several doors to your house or business, knowing that one key will open them all is much more convenient than having several different keys.
Rekeying is something you would also consider if you either lost your keys or suspect they have been stolen or copied by someone you have not authorized to make duplicates. Our professional locksmith would be able to rekey your locks to a new key even without having the original key present. As a Greater Philadelphia locksmith service we offer rekeying your locks in Philadelphia and surrounding areas such as Lower Merion, Bryn Mawr, Drexel Hill and more. Our professional locksmith can rekey any lock, weather it is a door knob, a deadbolt or high security lock.Master Keying:
A master key is designed to open a set of several locks. These locks also have keys which are specific to each one (the change key) and cannot open any of the others in the set. Locks which have master keys have a second set of the mechanism used to open them which is identical to all of the others in the set of locks. For example, master keyed pin tumbler locks will have two shear points at each pin position, one for the change key and one for the master key. A far more secure system has two cylinders in each lock, one for the change key and one for the master key.
Customers asking for a master key are usually running a business such as a property management office running an apartment complex. In this case each tenant would receive a key which would open his and only his apartment. The management on the other hand would have a master key, allowing them to open all apartments making this very convenient for showing apartments, doing repairs and general maintenance.
Our professional locksmith can create a master keying system that matches your needs. We offer these locksmith services in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, such as Lower Merion, Bryn Mawr, Drexel Hill and more.
